John Hiscock
John graduated from Trinity Hall, Cambridge in 1983 with a degree in Law. He trained at Lovells and qualified in 1986. John was a Partner at Addleshaw Goddard before joining Davenport Lyons as a Partner in 2009.
John specialises in corporate real estate, venture capital, investment funds, structured finance and M&A. His clients include Matrix Group, Squarestone, Obsidian, Evans Randall, Virtus Data Centres, Galzig Capital and a number of family offices.
On the real estate investment side, he is a specialist in JPUTs and the use of LLPs, partnerships and offshore structures and has completed two investment structures for shopping centre developments in Brazil for Squarestone, advised on various property finance restructurings, completed a complex property development funding and a subsequent roll out joint venture for Virtus Data Centres when Brockton Capital became an investor. He acts for Evans Randall on the sale of property spvs out of existing fund structures and is currently working on a number of property-related funds and joint ventures.
On the venture capital side, he has acted in the past for 3i, ECI and Piper Private Equity. His current clients include Matrix Group and DFJ Esprit. He has recently acted for DFJ Esprit on a further funding round of one of its TMT investee companies, for Hive Telecom on a secondary buyout of the UK and European assets of Euphony Holdings and the venture capital funding by Octopus of Executive Channel.
Interests include most family activities, gardening, playing the drums and cooking.
