Paul Hicks

Paul Hicks graduated from Hull University in 1983 with a 2:1 degree in Law.  He qualified in 1986. Paul was a highly valued member of the commercial property team at Eversheds (London) for a period of twenty plus years, before joining Davenport Lyons in February 2010.

Paul undertakes a broad variety of commercial property work, acting for investors, developers, corporate occupiers and public bodies.  His main area of expertise is acting for tenants in the retail and leisure sectors.

Recent highlights include:

  • Acting for a developer client on its proposed residential development of a site in Docklands, with an end value of circa £100m.
  • Acting for a public transport body on its acquisition of offices in the main tower at Canary Wharf at a yearly rent in excess of £5m.
  • Advising a developer in relation to the setting up of its retail letting scheme at the O2 Dome site on Greenwich Peninsula.
  • Acting for the Swedish retailer, Clas Ohlson, on its entry and expansion into the UK market.
  • Acting on separate portfolio disposals to Waterstones and New Look on behalf of Borders bookshops prior to the company’s recent administration.
  • Negotiating numerous leases for retail clients in prestigious locations and shopping centres, including brands such as Armani, Moss Bros, DKNY Jeans and Daylesford Organic.

Paul’s pastimes include golf, snooker and alternative music.  He is married, with a son.
