Bribery Act 2010 Seminar - 25 May
Following delays to the Guidance, the long awaited Bribery Act 2010 comes into force on 1 July this year. Heralded by the Ministry of Justice as a reform to criminal law to provide a new, modern and comprehensive scheme of bribery offences that will enable courts and prosecutors to respond more effectively to bribery at home or abroad, it is not without its detractors. But just what impact will the new Act have on UK business and its reputation in the global market?
In our presentation we will be separating the myth from reality and provide practical advice and guidance on the impact of the most important parts of the Act. Our speakers include Rachel Shoemaker, Head of Asia Forecasting, at Exclusive Analysis, an intelligence company who forecast commercial risk and opportunities worldwide, including levels of corruption. They will provide insight into how local political and legal practices can affect a UK business’s operations, using China as an example. Additionally, eminent barristers Patrick Gibbs QC and Richard Furlong along with Davenport Lyons’ Corporate Partner, Michael Hatchwell, will provide practical guidance having recently acted on behalf of Count Alfons Mensdorff-Pouilly the only individual to be charged with corruption in relation to the BAE Systems case.
