Bryn
is an associate in Corporate & Personal Recovery
Group, having joined Davenport Lyons in April 2001. Bryn
studied law at Exeter University, where he also took
the Legal Practice Course. He completed
a training contract with Kingsford Stacey Blackwell,
qualifying in April 1998 and working in the Litigation
Department before joining Davenport Lyons.
Bryn’s caseload is primarily insolvency based, both
contentious and non-contentious, in which he specialises
with the main focus being in the travel and airline industry. Bryn
assists Trevor Sears, UK Counsel for IATA. He also has
experience in and advising on all insolvency areas, representing
trustees, liquidators and receivers, as well as individuals
and companies. He also undertakes litigation work
acting for both Claimant and Defendant in contractual disputes
of a commercial nature; fraud investigatory actions,
including freezing injunctions and search orders; advising
the film department on enforcement provisions of charges
and securities.
- Acting for Penguin Books in making David Irving bankrupt.
- Acting for Private Eye in making Condliffe bankrupt following an unsuccessful libel action brought against the Eye.
- Two large scale fraud actions brought by ABTA, involving search orders and freezing injunctions.
- Bankruptcy proceedings against a well-known sports personality on behalf of the Mirror Group Newspapers.
- Debt recovery actions for British Airways Travel Shops and Lufthansa.
- Global Collect BV, a Dutch merchant provider, concerning fraudulent processing of credit card payments including asset tracing and freezing injunctions.
- Brand Connection, freezing injunctions against Administrators of two companies including a dispute over transfer and ownership of company assets.
