David Marchese is a commercial lawyer specialising in intellectual property, information technology, commercial contracts and competition law. He qualified as a solicitor in 1976 and was a partner at Richards Butler before joining Davenport Lyons in November 1999.
His clients range from players in the entertainment, media and leisure sectors, through finance and insurance, to IT companies and manufacturing and research based organisations. His work covers:
- Technology, trade mark, copyright and other intellectual property licence agreements.
- Franchising, merchandising and sponsorship agreements.
- Software licensing, web design and on-line publishing agreements.
- Supply, distribution, agency and other commercial arrangements.
- Research funding and other collaborative ventures.
- Advising on advertising and promotional issues.
- Advising on the protection, ownership and exploitation of rights in trade marks, websites, software and patents.
- Advising on data protection and other IT law issues.
David is the author of Business Licensing Agreements (Longman, 1994), the section on sale of goods in Practical Commercial Precedents (Sweet & Maxwell, 1987 to date) and a section of Commercial Transaction Checklists (Sweet & Maxwell, 1997 to date). He has had articles published on Unfair Terms in Consumer Contracts (ICLR, 1995), Body Parts and Biotechnology (Patent World, 1998/9), and Joint Ownership of Intellectual Property (European Intellectual Property Law Review, 1999). He speaks regularly at commercial seminars and other venues.
