| Fraser
read History at Cambridge University, graduating in 1991.
He was articled at Slaughter and May and, on qualification
in 1997, worked as a company/commercial lawyer initially
at Slaughter and May and subsequently at Freshfields' New
York office. In 2000, Fraser set up a film and television
practice (Frank Bloom & Co.) with his father, Frank
Bloom, the former senior partner of Marriott Harrison. Fraser
joined Davenport Lyons Media Group in March 2003 as an
associate and became a partner in June 2004.
Fraser acts principally for film and television production
companies and individual producers on all aspects of
film and television development, production, finance
and distribution.
His recent experience and clients include:
- Advising Archer Street on its production of feature films
including "Beyond the Sea", a biopic of the singer Bobby Darin,
starring Kevin Spacey, Kate Bosworth, John Goodman and Bob Hoskins
(shot in Germany and structured as a UK-German co-production)
and "Girl
With A Pearl Earring", starring Colin Firth, Scarlett Johansson
and Tom Wilkinson (shot in Luxembourg and structured as a UK-Luxembourg
co-production).
- Advising Aardman Animations on all aspects of
its animated feature film and television projects, including
the forthcoming Wallace
and Gromit feature film.
- Advising Ipso Facto Films on its production
of the feature film "School
For Seduction" starring Kelly Brook.
- Advising Oxford Film and Television
on its production of television dramas including the forthcoming "Footprints
in the Snow" (starring
Caroline Quentin) for ITV and "Second Generation" for
Channel Four and television documentaries including "Heroes
of Black Comedy" for
Comedy Central and E4 and "Superfly" for the BBC.
- Advising
Artists Independent Films on its production of the forthcoming "Mike
Bassett" television series for ITV, starring Ricky Tomlinson.
- Advising Tailor-Made Films on the production and distribution of
the interactive television gameshow "Come and Have A Go" (currently
in its second series on BBC1).
- Advising Talisman, the
UK co-producer of the 22-part television sci-fi series "Starhunter
2300", structured as an
Anglo-Canadian co-production.
- Advising 4DTV on its ITV
quizshow "Bognor or Bust", hosted
by Angus Deayton.
- Advising directors and writers on their contracts with independent
production companies and studios.
- Advising producers
on all aspects of film and television development work, including
rights acquisition, development
and first look deals and format licensing.
