is a partner in the Contentious Rights and Dispute
Resolution Department. He joined Davenport Lyons in
1996 and became a partner in 2002.
Mark is a Media litigator who advises
on issues of libel, confidence, privacy, copyright,
contempt and other media-related issues including
Digital Rights. He has acted for iTunes, MGN, Express
Newspapers, Penguin Books, Private Eye and a number
of well-known individuals.
Mark has acted on a number of complex and high profile
matters including:
- acting for Penguin Books in defending the libel
action commenced by David Irving following the publication
of Deborah Lipstadt’s “Denying the Holocaust”.
- acting for MGN in their Defence of Naomi Campbell’s
claim in privacy/breach of confidence.
- acting for iTunes in the Copyright Tribunal against
the MCPS/PRS Alliance.
- acting for Express Newspapers against Amanda
Holden in a leading privacy case.
- acting for Mike Medavoy’s productions company
Phoenix in a claim by XL Re Insurance.
- acting for Penguin Books in relation to Pre-Publication
advice for Roy Keane’s controversial autobiography.
- acting for Macmillan Books on a number of disputes
and pre-publication issues.
Mark heads up the firm’s Digital Rights and
Sports Groups.
