About Us
Richard was a partner at D J Freeman from 1968 to 1974. He then went on to be a partner at Slowes where he met Paul McCombie. He was in partnership with Paul McCombie at McCombie Gordon and Lowe from 1984 until he joined Davenport Lyons in 1998.

Richard is a very well known commercial property lawyer and has built up, over the years, a remarkable network of contacts within the property world. Accordingly, he is not only able to utilise his very considerable commercial property expertise and experience but also he is able, as a result of his knowledge of the property world and of the key players within it, to provide genuine commercial input to the deals on which he is instructed.

Richard's main area of work concerns acquisition and disposal of investment properties. His legal expertise on that area of work and general commercial property work includes:

  • Due diligence as to title and as to existing leasehold interests.
  • The funding of such acquisitions.
  • Analysis of Landlord and Tenant issues.
  • Acting for banks and other financial institutions with regard to secured lending.
Richard also acts for high profile manufacturing and retail clients dealing, in particular, with property requirements in respect of taking up and disposing of premises. Richard also has provided legal advice to the restaurant and leisure market and has, for many years, acted for a chain of high profile restaurants which includes "Cactus Blue", "The Roadhouse", "PJ's Bar & Grill", Navajo Joe's and Cafe des Arts. Finally, Richard advises with regard to major property transactions on behalf of pension funds, public company investors, property developers and high net worth individuals both in the UK and overseas.
