The government has announced today that the commencement date for most of the provisions of the Companies Act 2006 that were due to come into force on 1 October 2008 will be put back to 1 October 2009. This is due to the concern of the Registrar of Companies that the necessary changes to Companies House systems and processes will not be completed on time. The government will consult as to whether those provisions that do not necessitate Companies House changes will still come into force on 1 October 2008, or be put back to 2009 as well in order to avoid the complexity of phased implementation.  For more on the Companies Act 2006, please click here.
