Our aviation and travel practice comprises a cross-departmental team of lawyers who advise, on a daily basis, on a wide range of contentious and non-contentious aviation and travel industry related matters nationally and internationally.
Aviation
The aviation team offers a full range of services in the aviation and travel sectors including:
- Acquisitions and disposals of executive jets
- Leasing and chartering arrangements
- Preparation of lease documentation for lessors and lessees
- Disputes arising out of existing lease agreements
- Management and operation agreements
- Registration and de-registration formalities
- Importation of executive jets into the EU
- Tracing, protection and delivery up of executive jets
- Regulatory work including industry bonding, e-ticketing, travel regulations and carriers terms of carriage
- Advising on airline failures and related corporate recovery
Travel
Trevor Sears is UK Counsel to IATA and is named as a leading lawyer in Chambers UK 2009.
The team is involved in aviation related work, including acting on behalf of some 100 IATA member airlines to safeguard their interests arising from their relationship with travel agents throughout the UK. The team is instructed on a number of commercial disputes and recovery action at a local and international level. The work we encompass is both contention and non-contentious, with a particular focus on fraud related issues.
As a result of extensive connections with industry bodies the team is regularly consulted by ABTA, the CAA and various merchant card providers, including consultation issues with the CAA on IATA related issues and the new ATOL regulations. The team are also an active member of a number of anti-fraud groups within the industry, liaising with a number of service providers and the police.
