Make a Will with Davenport Lyons and give to the Will Aid charities this November
23 Oct 2012
Davenport Lyons is taking part in Will Aid during November for a third successive year. It offers the opportunity for members of the public to have their Will drawn up by the firm for a fixed donation to charity.
To raise as much money as possible for Will Aid, we will draw up basic Wills without charge, and the Will-maker makes a donation to the Will Aid charities. The suggested donation level is £90 per person. Will Aid is a campaign run by nine of the UK's best known charities: ActionAid, Age UK, British Red Cross, Christian Aid, NSPCC, Save the Children UK, Sightsavers, SCIAF (Scotland) and Trocaire (N. Ireland).
Fewer than half of the people in the UK have made a Will. It can take years to sort out someone's estate if they die without a Will, causing distress to relatives and unnecessary cost to the estate.
Talking about the involvement of the firm, Jeffrey Cohen, head of the Private Client Wealth Management department of Davenport Lyons said: “Davenport Lyons is delighted to be involved in Will Aid third. The charities to which this campaign donates are all extremely worthwhile and because of the spread of charities there will be one with special significance for everyone.” He went on to say that, “This initiative continues the firm’s Corporate Social Responsibility policy particularly in relation to its support for the local community.”
The Will Aid campaign has raised over £11 million in donations and very much more in legacies since its launch in 1988. The last campaign in 2011 raised over £1.25 million in donations. The money raised is shared by the Will Aid charities and is used to transform the lives of people in the UK and around the world.
